This represents a collaborative effort between the LSAM and Santa Barbara Museum of Natural
History, Santa Barbara, CA (M.S.Caterino, see http://www.sbnature.org/collections/invert/entom/histeridae.htm)
dedicated to the study of inquilinous histerid beetles. The strategic goal of this study is to complete systematic revisions of
two obligate inquilinous subfamilies of the Histeridae, Chlamydopsinae and Hetaeriinae, and to distribute the results in
analytical systematic and taxonomic formats, including identification keys. Here, we present a test version of the on-line
interactive key to the genera of Chlamydopsinae.
The posted version is still in the process of improvement. In particular, we are still working
to overcome some problems related to on-line displays of thumbnails illustrating the character states. To test the key, you need
to have Lucid Player software on your computer. It is available from the Lucid website (see link below) as a free download. Then, click on
the key link and save the key file on your computer as the dialogue box suggests. The next dialogue box allows you to open the
key. This latter action brings the user into the Lucid Player window. Click on the key button in upper left corner and you will
be able to use the key. Ignore the blank html page for the moment. We would
appreciate any feedback.
