Cows and calves on hill side (#52, 1999) pastures along south road in the early 1960's.  These pastures were cleared in 1959 and planted to bermuda grass in 1960.  Act #464 of the 1954 Louisiana Legislature provided $72,250 to establish a beef cattle program at the Hill Farm.

Cattle corral in a picture that is similar to the one that appeared on the cover of the April, 1963 issue of Progressive Farmer magazine.  The individuals are (clockwise from bottom)  Rodney Foil, Neils Robinson, Ray Davis, John Brown, unidentified, and Bob Merefield.

Hereford cows and calves in May 1965.  This was near the time the purebred Hereford herd was discontinued and a crossbreeding project involving Hereford, Brahman, and Brown Swiss began to produce cross-bred cows.

Holding pens for the corral in May, 1971. This is located just north of the current (1999) Powder River Corral.

Calf creep gate into a temporary pasture in the early 1960's located in pasture #59 (1999).

Cattle in feedlot in pasture #95A (1999).  These cattle were part of a grass-fed beef project.  They were only fed whole shelled corn for a short time in this feedlot.
