Johns, the Station's first superintendent (resident director),
demonstrates how hay yield could be increased with nitrogen
fertilizer in 1956. The levels were 0 and 200 lbs of
nitrogen alone and 200 and 400 lbs of nitrogen per acre with 200
lbs of potassium and phosphorus. |

Bermudagrass
being sprigged in mid 1950's in what is now (1999) field 63-C.
The first planting of Coastal bermudagrass west of the
Mississippi River were at the Hill Farm. Mr. Lyman White,
tractor driver, is the only individual identified. |
