Dawson Johns, the Station's first superintendent (resident director), demonstrates how hay yield could be increased with nitrogen fertilizer in 1956.  The levels were 0 and 200 lbs of nitrogen alone and 200 and 400 lbs of nitrogen per acre with 200 lbs of potassium and phosphorus.

Bermudagrass being sprigged in mid 1950's in what is now (1999) field 63-C.  The first planting of Coastal bermudagrass west of the Mississippi River were at the Hill Farm.  Mr. Lyman White, tractor driver, is the only individual identified.
A series of plots for forage research in April, 1962 that were located along the north road of the Station.
