Ø      Application of marker-assisted breeding to improve disease resistance in rice

B. Marsh plants:

Ø      Application of molecular approaches to wetlands erosion control and restoration of Louisiana salt marshes

·        DNA fingerprinting of 95 entries in NRCS Spartina alterniflora collection

·        Characterization of genetic grouping and selection of representatives of each group as potential parental lines for S. alterniflora improvement

·        Molecular characterization of the Rice Station-40 Collections of S. alterniflora.

·        DNA fingerprinting of NRCS California bulwhip (Schoenoplectus californicus collection)

·        Evaluation of NRCS bulwhip collection for salt tolerant entries
