Providers' GuideTypes of Products and Services If you have a product or service that would be useful to people wanting to protect their homes and businesses from floodwater, you can share information about that product or service by creating a listing for it in the Mall. You can also share information about properties that demonstrate floodproofing techniques - the successful ones, the unsuccessful ones and even ones that haven't been "tested" yet. This page explains how we can work together to help people protect themselves from flood damage. At the bottom of the page you'll find a link to let yourself into the mall as a "Provider" - someone who provides information about products, services and properties that have been floodproofed). If you haven't read the Welcome1>, please do. And, although the subtitles in the Providers' Guide are the same as those in the Shoppers' Guide, the content is different. We encourage providers to read the Shopper's Guide. Types of Products and ServicesMany disciplines contribute to reducing future flood damage. The Virtual Mall is for the one we call floodproofing. Please list only products and services that relate directly to protecting buildings from flood damage by altering the building or the property on which it is built. Please do not list products or services related to community-wide flood control works, best management practices for water-quality, wetlands mitigation, floodplain evacuation or other related components of flood protection. Accuracy, honesty, privacy and good practiceVendors are responsible for the accuracy of their information. You will have access to your records for maintenance. If you are listing a property that demonstrates the use of a floodproofing technique or device, please consider the privacy requirements of the property owner. The owner of the listing will be responsible for any violation of privacy caused by the listing. Making it work for everyoneThe Mall will grow and be a valuable resource if the shoppers and providers have similar understandings of its purpose and generally positive experiences with it. We appeal to all to use the mall for its intended purpose and to respect the limits established by the manager. Please communicate to the Mall Manager any abuses of the mall, especially those that would dissuade you from listing your products and services. Help us reduce clutter in the Mall, so people can find what they're looking for without having to deal with overwhelming amounts of somewhat related information. You can help reduce clutter by
Reporting problemsYou can use the Mall Comments Form, but we (the Mall Manager, Pat Skinner) would like to discuss any problems you encounter with this system. We welcome your suggestions for improving Mall function. In particular, we need to know if the listing forms and the "more info" buttons on the input forms provide enough information to allow you to complete the listing forms successfully and manage them to your satisfaction. The Virtual Mall is an experimental educational project that stretches the traditional boundaries between the public and private sectors. If for any reason it becomes unmanageable or creates problems for the manager or managing institution, it will be discontinued.
