Result demonstration is the single
most effective teaching method to stimulate adoption or application
of new practices or technologies. The Florida House Learning Center
has verified that premise and shown that outreach and impact are
multiplied when a model house is operated as an ongoing educational
center.
The Louisiana House is envisioned as a dynamic
educational resource center with:
- the
look and feel of an appealing home
- signs
describing features, cutaways
- changing
housing and landscaping exhibits
- visiting hours and group tours
- on-site
staff and master volunteers
- consumer
seminars
- continuing
education classes for professionals
- distance
education
- objective,
research-based consumer publications
- Web
site outreach with virtual tours, online publications, etc.
- linkages
with colleges, schools, youth groups
- information
collections and resource room
