LSU Students Help Build LaHouse

The construction of the LaHouse teaching center provided a unique learning and service opportunity for LSU Construction Management (CM) students.  Through the generosity of LaHouse Key Contributor Lane Thompson and Eco-Block, professor Jimmy Gill structured a course in innovative technology for CM students where they received training and hands-on experience with the insulating concrete form (ICF) building system – a high performance energy-efficient and hurricane resistant technology.

The students did a fantastic job and made a substantial service contribution to the LaHouse initiative, while getting a taste of real world job site field experience with professional contractors, construction superintendents, a safety team and protective gear and procedures.  This was certainly a win-win outcome of the LSU AgCenter partnership with Key Ally LSU Dept. of Construction Management.
