The 2009 LSU AgCenter Rice Research Station’s Rice Cam will show a number of images of the seed production field of the variety Jazzman. This is a new specialty variety with aroma and cooking characteristics very similar to jasmine type varieties grown in Thailand. The variety will be grown commercially for the first time this year. The 6 acre field was seeded on March 23 at the rate of 37 pounds of seed per acre. This field will also be featured in the Rice Web log which can be accessed at http://lsuagcenterrice.blogspot.com.
