PARTICIPANT SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
A review panel recommends participants from the pool of applicants. This panel is appointed and managed by the Institute’s Oversight Team and includes two communication unit heads, two information technology unit heads, one previous Institute participant, one dean or vice president, one state Extension Service or Agricultural Experiment Station director, and one representative of any Institute sponsor that wishes to participate. The Oversight Team reviews the panel’s recommendations and makes the final decision in selecting participants.
Selection criteria include:
- A letter from the applicant’s immediate supervisor supporting the necessary release time, financial resources, and participation in relevant administrative meetings at the home institution
- The applicant’s reasons for wanting to participate in the program and a statement explaining what he or she hopes to gain from the Institute
- The applicant’s stated career goals
- The applicant’s pledge to complete the program
INSTITUTE COSTS
The $3,500 registration fee covers costs for content delivery and hosting of the Institute's three sessions, totaling seven days of intensive training and interaction over a one-year period, as well as technology for participant interaction throughout the year.
Not included are costs for transportation, lodging, meals, and incidental expenses for participants. Note, however, that the first and last of the year's three sessions will be conducted in conjunction with the annual ACE international meeting, reducing the additional outlay of travel funds for participants who would normally attend those meetings.
REFUND POLICY
If it becomes necessary for an applicant to cancel his or her registration, he or she should submit a written request for a refund, postmarked no less than 60 days prior to the first day of the Institute. After that time, the registration fee will be refunded only if another participant can be found to take the applicant’s place, prior to the Institute’s first session. No refunds will be issued after the first session commences.
